Agency Web Assistant - Idea

Welcome to the community!

Create a welcome to the community page in cooperation with other local merchants.

The Idea:

Every agency would love to have the opportunity to know when a new family is coming or has arrived in town. Unfortunately being first can be tough. The idea here is to work with other local business that have web sites to create a "Welcome to the Community Site." You may not be the first merchant in town that finds out about a new family coming to town, however you can be the first agency they are exposed to.

If any of the business featured on the page come in contact with a new comer they urge them to visit the site.

How It Works:

Identify businesses in your area that you feel comfortable being associated with and may get the inside track on new families coming to town. A welcome wagon or real estate agency for example.

Determine what information should be displayed on the page. A few examples might be;

  • Local phone provider contact number to turn on service.
  • Local electrical service contact number to turn on service.
  • Local cable company contact number to turn on service.
  • Pizza delivery numbers. (Don't laugh, pizza is the number one moving in food.)
  • Links to appropriate local web sites if available.

Anyhow, you get the idea and can probably identify even more ideas from your own community.

Once you get the page setup you can then target other businesses in your area that may like to be featured on the page.

This idea also works well with a Community Web Ring.

Creating Exposure

Each participant must direct new families in the area to the site. However, if the site has a lot of information you may also find that long time residents also use the site.

  • Increased exposure of your agency in the community
  • A chance to visit with existing business clients.
  • The opportunity to approach business prospects without the usual sales pressures.
