Agency Web Assistant - Idea

Create A Community Web Ring

An excellent idea to promote your agency web site is to create a Community Web Ring

The Idea:

Work with other local merchants that have web sites to create a web community link that is found on each participants web site.

How It Looks:

Below is an example of a web community. These generally are best placed at the bottom of each entities home page.

We are a member of the Anytown, USA web community.

Acme Insurance
Dan's Automotive
Hometown Mortgages
Hank's Jewelers
Karen's Realty

How It Works:

Identify businesses in your area that you feel comfortable being associated with and that have web sites.

Visit each business and present the idea. Pick a first, second and third choice for each type of business you want to target for the ring.

In general, as you would not want to see another insurance agency listed, other businesses will probably not buy into the idea if a similar business they compete with is listed in the ring.

Last but not least, be sure that you don't exclude an exisiting client for a certain type of business. If you have a real estate firm as a client, approach them before you give the space to one of their competitors. If they were to see your site and were not at least given the chance to participate, they may not be your client much longer.

Creating Exposure

If your ring had 6 business and each business had 10 users per day to their specific site, the members in the ring are exposed to 50 more people in the community.

Benefits

The benefits of this type of promotion;

  • Increased traffic to your web site
  • Increased exposure of your agency in the community
  • A chance to visit with existing business clients.
  • The opportunity to approach business prospects without the usual sales pressures.
